Some basic questions that you need to ask yourself are …
- What do you bring to the video business context?
- What does it mean for you?
- What does it mean for your business?
Now there’s a reality and there’s perception, we all know that.
- So how are you actually perceived on camera?
- Do you come across as professional and credible?
- Or as timid and insecure?
- How do you find out?
Well, you start by going back to basics and asking yourself some fundamental questions.
- What makes you, you?
- Who are you?
- What defines you?
- Have you experienced successes and perceived failures over the course of your career?
- Have they affected your confidence?
- If so, how does that manifest in how you come across?
Why is this important? Well, let’s find out.
What I want you to do by way of activity is to explore how your own life experiences have literally shaped you. Have they influenced your professional self and the way you communicate and is that influence a positive one or a negative one or a combination of the two?
Now the big question is, is that a reality or just your own perception because perception, in fact, is a reality for both you and for your audience. The perception you create will determine if and how your audience relates to you and your content and your business.
So you need to find the best version of you that’s going to suit the camera but that version of you needs to be absolutely authentic and human.
In the next masterclass, we will look at ‘Keeping it human’.
